Corporate conference rooms are typically priced from £250 to £1,500 per day depending on facilities. Weekend and peak-season bookings command higher rates. Many venues offer packages that include catering and other services, which can represent better overall value than dry hire.

For weddings and large events, popular venues should be booked twelve to eighteen months in advance, and some in-demand locations are booked even further ahead. Corporate events typically require two to six months' notice depending on the size and complexity. Smaller private parties can often be booked with four to eight weeks' notice. Booking early gives you the best choice of dates and allows adequate time for planning. If you have flexibility on dates, midweek and off-peak bookings are often easier to secure and may offer reduced rates.

Dry hire means renting the venue space only, with no catering, staffing, or additional services included. This gives you the freedom to choose your own suppliers and can be more cost-effective, but requires more planning and coordination. A full package typically includes the venue, catering, bar, table settings, and often a coordinator, providing a more convenient, all-in-one solution. Some venues only offer full packages to maintain quality control, whilst others are flexible. Consider your budget, planning time, and preferences when deciding which approach suits your event best.

Event insurance is not legally required but is strongly advisable. It can cover cancellation or postponement due to unforeseen circumstances, public liability for injuries to guests, damage to the venue or hired equipment, and loss of deposits. Many venues require proof of public liability insurance before allowing external suppliers on site. Wedding insurance is particularly popular given the significant financial investment involved. Policies are available from specialist event insurers and typically cost from £30 to £150 depending on the level of cover and the event budget.

This depends entirely on the venue's policy. Some venues have exclusive catering arrangements and require you to use their in-house or preferred caterers. Others, particularly dry hire venues, welcome external caterers and may have a list of approved suppliers. If using your own caterer is important to you, check the venue's policy early in the selection process. External caterers may need to meet certain requirements such as holding a valid food hygiene certificate and public liability insurance, and there may be a charge for use of the venue's kitchen facilities.

Marquee size depends on your guest numbers and the layout required. As a general guide, allow approximately 10 square metres per 10 seated guests at round tables, or 8 square metres for long trestle-style tables. Additional space is needed for a dance floor, bar, buffet station, and any stage or entertainment area.
